Rock Mechanics Tools

RockWin is a free package that was developed to help students attending a University level Rock Mechanics class understand rock mechanics principles as well as numerically evaluate how each parameter in an equation influences the results. Engineers and other professionals can also benefit from these tools.

RockWin will only run on Microsoft Windows. Below is a timeline of updates as well as links to download the program installation file and the relevant help file.

  • May 28, 2021 update (v3.2.10): Program first hosted on this site. Updated help file.
  • March 5, 2022 update (v3.2.13): Corrected issues with strength calculations in Coulomb material with a joint. Updated log messages.
  • Aug 14, 2022 update (v3.2.14): Corrected issues with circular openings form. Added units in room and pillar form. Misc other fixes.
  • Aug 14, 2022 update (v3.2.15): Corrected issues with auto update. If your installed version tries to update and fails, please uninstall manually, download the latest version from this website, and re-install.
  • March 24, 2023 update (v3.2.17): Added units to foundation load form. Updated help file
  • April 14, 2023 update (v3.2.18): Fixed issues with plotting failure regions around circular opening
